Edit translations in the dashboard
The editor is where you read and correct translations. Open Editor, then choose your site.
The table#
Each row is one string. You see:
- the source text,
- the translation for the language you picked,
- its state in words: Untranslated, Machine, Reviewed or Manual,
- the states in your other languages,
- a "Changed since publish" badge when the live version differs,
- quality flags, if the checks found something. See Quality flags.
Find strings#
- Filters: all, untranslated, machine, reviewed, manual, changed since publish, has quality flags. Each shows a count.
- Search: the source text, the translation, or an exact key.
- The table shows 50 rows at a time.
Edit#
Click a translation, type, and save. You can also press Ctrl+Enter to save. A saved edit becomes Manual. Machine runs never replace it.
The editor checks your text before it saves:
- It must not be empty.
- It must be at most 10,000 characters.
- It must keep every tag and placeholder. You may reorder them. See Tags and placeholders.
Glossary mismatches give a warning but do not stop the save.
Who can edit#
Owners, admins and editors can edit. Viewers see the fields but cannot change them. See Roles.
Without JavaScript#
The editor works with plain form posts. A small script adds saving in place, select-all and live progress for background jobs.
On a phone#
Below 760 pixels wide the table becomes a list of cards. Text is shown with the right language and direction, including right-to-left languages.
The record#
Each edit, review, revert and publish request is written to your audit log with who did it, which string and when. The log holds the key and the status, not the text itself. See Webhooks and the audit log.
