LgTranslate wants everyone to be able to use our website, our dashboard and the language switcher we provide for your site. This statement says what we aim for, what we have tested and what we know is not yet good enough.
1. Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, for the public website, the dashboard and account pages, and the language switcher that website owners add to their sites. This is a goal. We have not yet had the site independently audited, so we do not claim that it conforms. Our honest status is: partially tested, conformance not yet evaluated.
2. What we have checked
- The language switcher (inline and floating, desktop and mobile, open and closed, left-to-right and right-to-left) was tested with an automated accessibility checker (axe) in a real browser, including colour contrast, with no violations found. It is operable by keyboard (arrow keys and Escape), announces its state to assistive technology, uses real links where the site uses language URLs, and has large touch targets.
- The sign-in, password-reset, verification and invitation pages, the licence-key page, the translation editor and the review pages were checked with the same tool at desktop and phone widths, with no violations found in the checks run, including visible focus, labels, error messages and no sideways scrolling at 390 px.
- Pages are designed mobile-first with readable text sizes and sufficient contrast.
Automated tools find only part of the problems that real people meet, so a clean result is not proof of accessibility.
3. What we have not yet tested
- We have not completed a full test with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) on any page.
- We have not completed a full keyboard-only review of every page, nor tested zoom to 200–400%, text-spacing changes, high-contrast or reduced-motion settings.
- Testing was done in Chromium. Other browsers are not yet tested.
- The operator back-office, the WordPress admin screens and the Shopify screens have not been assessed.
4. Known limitations
- Translated pages. Text hidden from view, such as image descriptions (
alt), accessible names (aria-label) and form placeholders, may remain in the original language on a translated page. This affects screen-reader users of translated pages. We are working on it. - Machine translation can contain errors that make text harder to understand. We recommend website owners review important pages.
- The loader sets the page's
langanddirfor the language shown. On sites that load the script late, a brief flash of the original text may appear. - The language switcher is added to your site by you. The accessibility of the rest of your site is your responsibility.
5. Tell us about a problem
If you cannot use something on our site, please write to [OPEN: mailbox], say what you were trying to do and what happened, and tell us which browser and assistive technology you use. We will reply within 5 business days and tell you what we can do. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can contact the accessibility or consumer enforcement body in your country.
