Only some text is translated

On this page

When a page shows a mix of languages, one of these is usually the reason.

The string has no translation yet#

Open the editor and filter for Untranslated. Translate those strings and publish. A string with no translation shows the original text.

You changed the wording#

If you edit the text on your site, the new wording is a new string and needs a new translation. The old translation stays in your list but is no longer used on that page.

The text appears after the page loads#

The loader watches for changes, so most late text is translated. But the text must be found first. Text that your site adds after the last scan needs another scan. Scanning from the dashboard is not built yet: OPEN. Use the command-line tool.

The text cannot be reached#

Text in a canvas, in images, in PDFs and in iframes from other websites is out of reach. See What is and is not translated.

A translation was rejected#

If a translation lost a tag or a placeholder, the original text stays. Open the row in the editor and look for a quality flag. Fix the tags. See Tags and placeholders.

The text is marked "do not translate"#

Check the element and its parents for translate="no" or notranslate, and check your glossary.

Curly braces#

Text in curly braces, such as {word}, is treated as a variable and kept as it is.

Your framework redraws the text#

Single-page apps can redraw an element and overwrite the translation. Mark that element with translate="no" and translate its text in your app. See Install on a single-page app.
